I love the darkroom. For me, nothing beats the quiet, orange-lit space with the sound of running water and rocking trays, or the excited anticipation of seeing your print emerge for the first time... The darkroom isn't antiquated here - it's a place of magic and creation, of contemplation and community.

Never tried it? Curious to learn the old-school methods?

Perhaps you might want to consider spending 8 winter evenings here with us, learning your film camera and the darkroom:

INTRO TO BLACK AND WHITE FILM AND THE DARKROOM with Allison Hale
Thursdays, February 5 – March 26; 6:30-8:30pm
$195, $175.50 BCA Members (all paper, chemicals and film included)
No experience necessary
Discover the mysteries of the darkroom and make your own photographic prints! Learn how to properly expose black & white film, process film into negatives, and make prints from those negatives. At the end of this class, participants will be ready to use the darkroom independently as community darkroom members. Bring an empty manual 35mm film camera to the first class.
